ESP Screens writes the language into each screen's YAML (`LANGUAGE: "nl"` under `substitutions:`), and the screen shows
it after its next firmware update. A screen whose YAML ESP Screens can't reach, such as one you build with ESPHome on
another machine, gets that line from you: a code from [`screen_manager/translations`](screen_manager/translations);
English is the default. [Translating ESP Screens](docs/TRANSLATING.md) says how to add or check a language.
